VUELTA AL TACHIRA: DUSAN RAJOVIC CLOSE TO AN HISTORICAL WIN
First race and first podium for Team corratec thanks to the National Champion of Serbia Dusan Rajovic who ended just behind the colombian Johan Colon in the opening stage of Vuelta al Tachira.
It was a warm and windy stage with plenty of attacks and Team corratec was active from the start with Stefano Gandin who joined a breakaway of twelve riders.
From this group the colombian Didier Merchan escaped solo but his attempt ended with less than 30 kms to the finish.
With the peloton rolling fast for a sprint finish, Dusan Rajovic showed his skills in the final km but his comeback effort wasn’t enough to overtake Johan Colon with Team corratec missing the first historical win for few centimetres.
“It would have been an amazing to start with a win – says Rajovic – but unfortunately I didn’t manage to pass Colon. It was a very difficult stage as I also suffered a puncture but my team mates were there to support me and they brought me into the peloton. We will try again tomorrow.”
The second stage of Vuelta al Tachira will be again a day for the sprinters with start from Hacienda Agroturistica Los Alendros and finish in Ciudad Bolivia.
